Tulsa business consultant, writer and speaker Jim Whitt will be the keynote speaker at the Management Leadership Institute’s breakfast series next week.
The breakfast, which is called Leaders Transforming Business, will take place from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. June 12 at La Fortune Park Golf Course Fairways Dining in Tulsa.
Whitt, founder of Purpose Unlimited, said he will be sharing principles from his book, Riding for the Brand: The Power of Purposeful Leadership.
“I wrote the book as a template for leaders who want to create a culture that attracts people who are motivated by more than just a paycheck,” Whitt said. “Today’s employees don’t want to just work for a company. They want to be partners in a cause and work with a company that is driven by a purpose that is positive, powerful, simple and serving.”
The Management Leadership Institute is having a keynote speaker each month to talk about how their spiritual lives influence their business lives as a leader, said Cynthia Stewart, one of the Institute’s co-founders.
Whitt, who has a degree in animal science, will address the role of the spirit in human behavior: “The thing that separates us from other animals is that our animal bodies house the human spirit. The human spirit responds to the only stimulus that is unique to our species — purpose. All other animals are just trying to eat and keep from being eaten. We are the only animals that seek meaning for our existence. When we find meaning in our work we rise above our animal natures and become intrinsically motivated. That’s the path to maximizing our potential.”
Stewart also said the breakfast series provides a chance for business leaders in Tulsa, Oklahoma City and northwest Arkansas to network and meet each other.
Those who want to attend the breakfast are asked to RSVP in advance at http://www.bestmli.org. The cost is $25.
