The Prevailing Point of View

By Jim Whitt A friend sent me an article entitled In a Downturn, Provoke Your Customers* in which the authors write about provocation-based selling. Being a professional provoker, I found the principles described in provocation-based selling to be congruent with my approach as a consultant and speaker. One of the things I really like about the provocation-based selling approach is that it challenges the prevailing point of view as opposed to aligning with the prevailing point of view. You can sell a lot of stuff to people using the prevailing point of view because it’s familiar to them. But you’re… Read More

Leader of the Pack

By Jim Whitt If you’ve ever watched Cesar Millan’s TV show, The Dog Whisperer, you’ve seen some amazing transformations take place with dogs and their owners.  I’ve been reading his book, Be the Pack Leader: Use Cesar’s Way to Transform Your Dog and Your Life, and find many of Cesar’s canine principles apply to human behavior. The names were changed to… Read More

Road Signs For Success

By Paula Lau “I don’t know!” I snapped at one of my sons. For what seemed like the one hundredth time, he was asking me a question about his Lenten fast. Last year for Lent our entire family had given up the same thing. This made Lent fairly straight-forward and we all helped one another along in our endeavor. For those of you who may not know, Lent is a season of time within the Christian Church before Easter in which Christians may choose to give up something to keep in mind our Lord’s sacrifice. Last year we had all… Read More

Road Signs for Success – June 11, 2008

By Kay Caldwell Do you ever feel like you limit yourself? Do you have your life in a nice, neat little box that you dust off every now and then? Have you ever felt like you are in someone else’s territory? I read once “it’s not trespassing if the boundaries you cross are your own.” If you stop and think about you, and we rarely do, you have probably set boundaries in your life without realizing it. We all tend to set these boundaries based on life experiences. Let’s think about a new way of handling things.
